"Rweisat al-Malak is under the full control of the Syrian government forces," they stressed.

"The Syrian army and its popular allies have not taken even one step back in their fight against the terrorist groups in Rweisat al-Malak," the sources said.

The terrorist groups left behind scores of the dead and wounded members and fled the battlefield near Rweisat al-Malak and Akou.

The Syrian army, including Hawk Brigades and navy forces, alongside Iraqi popular forces backed up by the Russian air forces have started mop-up operations near the newly liberated lands in the surrounding of the small town of Kabani that is the closest town in Lattakia to the strategic city of Jisr al-Shughour in Idlib province.

Earlier reports said that the Syrian Army troops and the National Defense Forces continued to push back the terrorist groups from their strongholds and restored security to more heights near Lattakia province's border with Idlib province.

The Syrian government forces repelled the large-scale offensives of the terrorist groups and in a rapid counterattack forced them to pull their members back from the Heights of 1112 and 1154 and mountain of al-Zweiqat.

The terrorist groups suffered a heavy death toll in the army's counterattack.
